How often should I change the bed?
It is best to change bedding once a week, especially in summer. In winter it is recommended to change them every 10-12 days maximum. It is very important to maintain the hygiene of our bed. Clean bed linen is important for your well-being. For example, if you wake up with irritated skin or a stuffy nose, it could be because your bedding isn't clean and attracts various allergens. Dust also settles on your bedding and is inhaled for about eight hours a day. When you consider that around one in six people suffer from some form of allergy or breathing difficulty, and that on average we spend around a third of our lives in bed, it's obvious how important it is to sleep in clean sheets.
The bed is also a favorite place for dust mites, which find here an ideal environment for their survival. These small insects can aggravate asthma or trigger allergies such as rhinitis and hives. Choosing breathable sheets made from natural fabrics like ours helps prevent dust mites from nesting in our beds.
According to various researchers, it is ideal to wash bedding once a week, especially in summer when light pajamas are worn and the skin is in direct contact with the fabric.
Pillowcases deserve a special mention: they should ideally be changed at least twice a week to prevent acne and pimples caused by bacteria lurking in the fabric.
Blankets, mattress covers and bed throws should be washed once a month, or more often if stained.
